I attended Via from 1st grade up through graduation with the exceptions of 2nd and 8th grades because of furloughs. I met my husband when I was 16 and he came down to help on a remodel of the boy’s dorm. We spent a month together and then wrote letters for a year until I graduated. When I got to the US, Steve called me and came to visit and the rest, as they say, is history. In September, we will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We have 3 kids, Daniel who is almost 13, Katrina who is 11, and Anita who is 8. I trained as an x-ray tech in college and have worked off and on in the field as babies and moves allowed. (We have moved 5 times in 15 years.) When we moved here to Hagerstown, I got a job working for a breast surgeon. I loved what I was doing there and felt that God was allowing me to minister to women in a really unique way as they underwent biopsies and diagnoses that often came back positive for breast cancer. Unfortunately that all changed one day when the nurse walked into the room while I was praying with a patient. The doctor didn’t want me to offer to pray with the patient’s anymore and I couldn’t work in a place where I couldn’t follow the Holy Sprirt’s leading, so I quit. I am now at home cooking lots of big meals and baking. My husband and kids think it is great. I am also substitute teaching at my kids Christian school. That has been a fun and new experience. I would love to hear from some of my buddies - in the craziness of life I have lost touch with a lot of you and would like to change that. Write, email, or call - I would be ecstatic to hear from you. If you are traveling anywhere around Hagerstown, I would love to see you and be happy to feed you, so drop on by. |
